Seasoning a crepe pan- discoloration normal?

I am so excited, I just got a French blue steel crepe pan (Mauviel M’steel from bed bath beyond). The instructions to season it said to heat oil on it for 5 min then let cool and wipe oil off, repeat. I did this but the oil burned and Reading More May Cause Envy…
