Sourdough turned into batter?

After making sourdough dough, I let it sit out on the counter for ~4 hours, beating it back down occasionally so that it didn’t overflow…

Now, I’m trying to knead it for the second rise and it has the consistency of a very thick batter.

Do I need to add more Reading More May Cause Envy…
